Common Core in a Box with Jill Jackson!
Super simple, down-to-earth online class that will take you from, “Ugh! Where do I start planning my ELA CCSS-aligned lessons???” to “Done! I’m planned, prepped and aligned to the ELA Standards!”
So straightforward, it’s got a “no assembly required” stamp!
Click here and listen to Jill’s musing on the class!!
If you’re frustrated by attending professional development that doesn’t tell you the “HOW” part of the Common Core, then this class is for you. We have designed the content specifically around the question, “So what do I teach tomorrow?” Brand new CCSS content that’s ready-to-use, not recycled old stuff that’s slapped with the Common Core label.
Imagine this…
All you have to do is open the box and watch each week’s class with Jill (from anywhere!) and immediately apply the very specific and very realistic lessons to YOUR grade level, YOUR kids and YOUR classroom. Yep, that means you can watch the class from your couch at home in your pjs, you can interact with it from your smartphone while you’re waiting to pick your kid up from basketball practice or you can gather around your iPad with your team and collaborate while you watch…all just by “opening the box”…
We know that the Spring 2015 deadline for kids to take the ELA CCSS-aligned assessment is getting closer and closer. And we’ve even seen so many folks “treading water” as they get ready for the Common Core – they’re learning stuff about it, but they’re focusing their efforts on the wrong thing. They’re not looking at the classroom level implementation of the Common Core and the teachers (the actual implementers!) are left out of it! Eek!
Well, you don’t have to be one of those educators who is frustrated and fit-to-be-tied as you prepare for the 2013-2014 school year – you can pull ahead of the crowd by focusing on getting these standards mastered, taught, modeled, practiced, feedbacked (is that a word?), applied and assessed…it really doesn’t have to be that stressful or overwhelming!
We recently held a free class as a teaser for this “ELA Common Core in a Box” training and here’s what several of the participants had to say:
I have learned SO MUCH from you and I so appreciate being chosen to be apart of this class. I am a Literacy Coach in a school that is not Title 1, even though the elementary schools are, so I have to pay for most things myself. You don’t know what a Blessing my time with you has meant to me. I just wish it could have been longer!
Sincerely,
Annette
Thank you for this class! My math coach and I found this valuable, and I cannot wait to get working on the steps with the teachers.
Thank you!
Anne
The class ROCKS! Thank you for being so practical and for talking like a real teacher – love that this isn’t over our head kind of information. We’re already using so much!
Donn
Just wanted to say WOW!! Thank you for your knowledge and helping me figure out how to help the teachers I work with to understand the CCSS so easily.
Maria
This was so informative. I had a couple of light bulb moments with: using verbs in the standards to find the level on Webb’s Depth of Knowledge, having a unified “agreed upon rules for discussions” for SL 1.1, and looking at the standard as a rubric.

Open the box each week as you plan…and then….TEACH! (What a concept, right?)
There are two options for joining the class:
Option 1 (for individual participants): If you are cash-strapped and budget-tight, you can join our class LIVE each week and receive all of the resources above. You will have to be live on each class to receive the content.
Hey, are you interested in flexibility and customization-ability (is that a word?)?
If you are a school or district and you’re interested in receiving the weekly class links to download, stream live and customize your own PD, then Option 2 (for school groups) is for you. We have designed the class so that within 48 hours of the end of each class, you will receive a specialized link to all of the classes (either stream them from our system or download them for anytime use!). You know what that means, right? It means that you can customize your professional development and use the class content in team meetings, in staff meetings, for staff development days, for team and individual study.
Option 2 allows you to “Open the Box” and customize your PD starting from our very first class – use it whenever and wherever and however…you don’t have to come up with the content for PD days at your school – it’s done for you. Your whole school learning at your own pace, customized to your plan – all focused on the classroom-level implementation of the ELA Common Core Standards.
This allows you to spend your time refining the CCSS work with the kids, not figuring out what to do!
So, here’s the real deal: I would absolutely love to have you join us on our class. Whether you choose Option 1 or Option 2, I am confident that you will learn a TON and you’ll be able to start the school year fully in control of the Common Core – and that builds confidence…and allows you to sleep at night and enjoy your summer!
We have 25 seats open and then we’re closed until we run the class again (slated for Spring 2014).
Option 1: To join as an individual, please pay by credit card (before June 15th – or until the class is full)
Yes! I want to join “Common Core in a Box!” as an individual
Option 2: Yes! We want to join “Common Core in a Box!” as a group and receive all the resources PLUS all of the live video straight to our inboxes!
