I have a challenge for you: go out RIGHT NOW and make contact with one child that you know is struggling to meet benchmark. 

Ask them how their day is going and put them on your “radar.” Then, check in with that student at least twice a week – follow his/her data and make it a point to make contact with the teacher or parent. 

I sometimes wonder how much relationship has to do with performance…my hunch is that it affects performance more than we know.
